LSTAA takes very seriously the protection of the children and youth participating in our program.  We also recognize that our organization is solely dependent on the many volunteers it takes to run our annual baseball and softball programs.  We appreciate your willingness to consider volunteering your time and efforts. 

LSTAA has always conducted background checks on all our managers, coaches, assistant coaches, and organizational volunteers before they are permitted to lead or interact with our kids on the playing fields.  The conducting of these checks are MANDATORY and required under federal and state laws.  Therefore, we will continue to conduct these checks in accordance with the requirements of our insurance company AND applicable state and federal laws.

All adult volunteers must obtain the required clearances as required under the law.  Under the law, these clearances must include the following:

• PA State Police criminal background check clearance.
• Department of Human Services (DHS) Child Abuse clearance.
• FBI criminal background check clearance, which includes fingerprinting (if lived in PA for less than 10 years).

We understand these clearances may be a challenge and burden for some to obtain.  However, we are required to collect these from our volunteer managers and coaches.  Only the FBI checks will cost our volunteers.  The state checks are available online and all fees are waived IF YOU OBTAIN A CODE FROM LSTAA, which we will provide our volunteers.  Links to the online site can be obtained on our LSTAA website.

The following screen is an application process to register as a head team manager, coach, or volunteer.  Completion of the application does NOT guarantee you will be permitted in one of these roles.  All background screening much be completed before application approval will be granted.  You will receive direct emails with instructions and codes on how to conduct the required checks.
